Unframed: Trace of Awakening
...is an interdisciplinary research and artistic project that examines the intersection of feminine identity, affect theory, and the semiotics of popular culture. Centered on the collaborative synergy of five women, the project transcends traditional representation to explore the "awakening" of the female subject, not merely as a thematic element, but as a radical reclamation of agency and self-prioritization. The title itself, "Unframed," serves as a programmatic manifesto: it signifies the deliberate departure from the static boundaries of the frame—moving beyond the two-dimensional confines of canvas/photograph and expanding into the fluidity of moving pictures, the resonance of sound, and the evocative power of the written word.
Popular Culture as Connective Tissue
In this project, popular culture functions as the essential connective tissue that binds disparate artistic disciplines and theoretical inquiries. It is treated as a shared space where intensities are amplified, fragmented, and reassembled. Rather than a mere backdrop, popular culture provides the vocabulary of signs and symbols through which the female subject navigates the transmission of emotion into the realms of fantasy and identification. It is the site where personal lived experience meets collective imagination, allowing the project to bridge the gap between individual awakening and societal resonance.
The Affective Reservoir and the SheExists Initiative
At the core of the She Exists initiative is the premise that emotion is a culturally produced and socially regulated phenomenon. Emotions are not merely internal states; they are learned patterns, repeated and recognized through the visual, narrative, and corporeal codes of popular culture. By utilizing these codes, the project explores how the "awakening" of a woman is often a process of deconstructing these inherited patterns to find an authentic presence.
Interdisciplinary Methodology: From Analysis to Performance
The project shifts the theoretical line from an analytical space to a performative one. By integrating painting, photography, video, original music, dance and text, "Unframed" ensures that emotion is not merely interpreted but actively produced and experienced.

The Body as Medium: The female body functions as a primary vessel of inquiry. It remembers, reacts, and performs emotional structures shaped by cultural narratives.

Aural and Visual Symbiosis: Through original compositions and visual media (photography and video), the project captures the "affective charge" that escapes conventional language, moving out of the frame and into the sensory realm of the audience.

The Written Word: Textual elements serve as the intellectual anchor, grounding the abstract movements and sounds in a rigorous framework of awareness and self-reflection.
The Paradigm of Awakening:
Self-Prioritization and Presence
A pivotal dimension of this work is the exploration of the "awakening"—the psychological and social process of a woman recognizing the necessity of placing herself at the center of her own narrative. This is not depicted as a linear story but as a series of "traces" and "fragments" that challenge the historical marginalization of female interiority. SheExists does not seek to represent "the woman" as an object of the gaze; instead, it insists on her absolute presence. It focuses on the gesture, the movement, and the affective intensity that cannot be reduced to simple meaning.
Conclusion: The Performance as an Event
